Kill unecessary processes

In winXP there are some way with which u can check for any stray processes and kill them.

1. Right click on the taskbar, click on task manager....then click on processes tab..

if u hav no acess to it(damaged by virus) u can try task killer from the link below

2. Check for the processes. if it is not in the list below then check in google about it. just type the process name and search.

taskmgr from ur current user
alg from Local Services
hkmcd from ur current user
igfxtray from ur current user
spoolsv from ur current user

System from SYSTEM
MDM from SYSTEM
System Idle Process from system
SVCHOST (MULTIPLE) from NETWORK SERVICE AND SYSTEM
SERVICES from SYSTEM
LSASS from SYSTEM
SMSS from SYSTEM
CSRSS from system....and more 4/5 processes

but the viruses generaly run from the username-=ur current username(the login name)

they generaly copy the name of system processes.

so u should regularly check for suspicious procesess and kill delete them. and if u can then search whether it is generated by any other virus residing in ur harddisk.

2. Extract

extract with winzip/winrar to ur C:/Program files/

3. Run the installer

4. Goto Control Panel->trustno

5. Add ur executable folders(where ur programmes not virus resides) any where on the harddisk, but u should better add only "program files" and "windows". and install everything into program files.

6. Insert ur pendrive to ur PC and then again open the trustno in controlpanel. and add the pendrive to deny list, similarly u can add the cd drive also.

7. Now u r safe from pendrive/cd resident viruses.

8. Anything u hav to install ,then u first copy the setup to program files then install and delete the setup. but u should use ony trusted softwares.

Generally viruses come with cracked softwares(illegal copy from anonymous sites), u should use softwares only from trusted sources or sites, u should not rely fully on any antivirus
